My maternal g-g-grandfather John Nelson Padgett was stationed in Nashville TN during the Civil War on the Federal Side. According to family legend, his wife Emily Adeline (D0bson) Padgett journeyed there to visit him from Bradley County Tn during his last illness. Like many of his fellow soldiers, he died from disease(pneumonia) rather than from actual battle. His widow was left to raise William Nelson Padgett on her own.
